Description
This particular chocolate is made from cocoa butter from the Dominican Republic in the Duarte province. Öko Caribe is a cocoa supplier that works closely with all their farmers and has community focused initiatives. The exquisite quality of their cocoa beans make Öko Caribe a leading supplier in this country, well known for its traceable, sustainable approach and of course its excellent taste.
A bit of fun here; This chocolate has inclusions of little chunks of beschuit(dry, airy cracker) and muisjes (“little mice”; sugar coated aniseed). When there is a birth in the Netherlands, everyone who goes on ‘kraam bezoek’ (visits the new mother and baby) they are traditionally treated to beschuit met muisjes. It is a round, dry and airy cracker topped with butter then sprinkled with either pink (for a girl) or blue (for a boy) sugar coated aniseed. It is a surprisingly delicious combination that keeps you coming back for more!
The blond chocolate (37% white chocolate made with milk powder which we roast in the oven, this gives it a delicious caramel taste and colour) pairs beautifully with the beschuit. It also makes for a tasty, sweet combination with the aniseed.
